Harris Park Metropolitan District is a special district. Special Districts in Colorado are local governments, i.e., political subdivisions of the state, which make up a third level of government in the United States. (The federal and state governments are the other two levels.) Local governments include counties, municipalities (cities and towns), school districts, and other types of government entities such as “authorities” and “special districts.” (Taken from Colorado DOLA website.) At this time, Harris Park Metro District is primarily responsible for managing the water within its boundaries.The purpose of this page (and its accompanying drop-down tabs) is to provide transparency to the voters within the district.

 Distribution of District Funds (See pdf of budget below)

  • Recreation funds come from fishing badges, community fees, Colorado Lottery, etc. and are managed by the HP Metro District. Recreation funds are separate from all other funds. (The HP Recreation Committee is a group of community volunteers who put on holiday parties. This committee does not handle any District funds.)
  • Water & Sanitation funds come from property taxes and are managed and held by the HP Metro District. Water & Sanitation funds are separate from all other funds.
  • There is a separate Harris Park Volunteer Support Group which puts on the summer Bingo nights.The Bingo funds are managed and held by the Harris Park Volunteer Support Group which is NOT affiliated with the HP Metro District.

Board of Directors (Transparency Notice)

The Board of Directors is composed of five elected individuals who own property and/or live in Harris Park. Each individual fills his/her seat for four years. Each seat is up for re-election every 4 years.
